RT reported that a number of applications had been received for the vacancy of a qualified green keeper and it was agreed to arrange interviews with selected applicants on 14th July.

A discussion regarding the “course walk” revealed that most of the work identified had been completed or was planned for the near future. It was reported that new turf had been used to patch the damaged areas on the 12th and 13th greens and progress of these areas would be monitored. The drainage (water issuing from the bank) on the 13th would be investigated.

It was agreed that some trees on the 7th hole require trimming and thinning out.

The certificates for the course re-measure have now been supplied by Eagle Golf.

Staff Contracts of Employment will be renewed and issued asap and a sample document was given to AP for his comments.

RT reported that the Ladies section had requested that the rough be reduced on the 10th fairway, trees lopped on the 6th and that the banks be strimmed on the 15th.

AP circulated a written report (copy attached) the contents of which were discussed.

It was then agreed that the greens would be microtyned and top dressed asap. RT requested that the rough to the left of the 17th fairway be reduced.

AP reported that top dressing and fertilizers are required and RT explained the procedures for ordering and purchasing the products.

AP confirmed that the Irrigation system had been working, but required testing, which he would implement. The report from North Staffs Irrigation is still awaited.

It was agreed that the trees in front of the old 8th tee had now grown too high to permit re-instatement of this tee.

AP agreed to read and record water meter readings on a monthly basis.

JS reported that he had been to inspect some rolls of used Astroturf, which could be suitable for use as winter tees. Following inspection of samples it was agreed to purchase 10 rolls for £100.

RT agreed to supply some additional litterbins, which would be emptied by Ken.

Date of next meeting:  Tuesday 5th August 2008 at 7-00 pm.
